Cholesterol Lowering Diets

Hello I am a biochemist that is affected with high cholesterol. The first thing listen is that you never know exactly what causes atherosclerosis, a condition in in which an artery wall thickens as the result of a build-up of fatty materials example cholesterol. It seems that cholesterol plays a role in the disease process but not the only part.

What is cholesterol anyway? cholesterol is a lipid fatty substance that originates from your liver and released to your blood it has many important functions in your body that cannot be made by any other substance it is assigned to the membrane of cells gives them their elasticity.

Cholesterol cannot be transported in the blood as is, since it's a fatty substance that is not soluble in water. Therefore it carried by special necessary protein carriers. There are a few of such carriers, but the most known are Low density lipoprotein (LDL) and serious density lipoprotein (HDL). Both manufactured by the liver and have a role in regulation of cholesterol and additional fats. LDL is and was the bad fat because it accumulates in the way arteries.

Fats consumption in your diet does affect the ratio between Ldl and hdl.

Fats that especially hit your LDL are Tran fatty acids. Trans fatty acids are fats to occur only on trace amounts in nature. The Trans fats in our diet are from a commercial process, unfortunately our body cannot process this kind of fat and research signifies that trans fats affect proper intent being the liver resulting in higher LDL in get your blood.
